Main policy issue to be addressed in relation to the selected topics
Cities are environments that are experiencing a progressive aging process, where elderly people want to maintain their personal autonomy without losing quality of life.
The main challenge are to ensure healthy aging and create an inclusive, integral and sustainable city ecosystem, where everyone can live in a friendly and secure environment. Also reduce social inequalities and working to prevent aging-related illnesses (neurodegenerative, respiratory, etc.) with intergenerational activities and workshops to enhance the personal autonomy of the elderly.
A strategy based on the development of a health island ecosystem, with comfort and quality areas in the neighborhoods between the reference facilities and neighbours, improving the free space of the environment, architectural barriers, Green Urban itineraries and the mobility of the elderly.
