Edited on
24 June 2019Several URBACT projects are directly concerned with developing understanding and fostering integrated and sustainable approaches to urban development which therefore includes energy issues to be tackled. In regard to this energy matter, URBACT is pleased to let you know that ManagEnergy activities have restarted in January 2010 with the support of the Intelligent Energy - Europe (IEE) Programme . ManagEnergy is an initiative of the European Commission Directorate-General for Energy and Transport, which aims to support the work of actors working on energy efficiency and renewable energies at the local and regional level.
The main ManagEnergy tools are training, workshops and online events. Additionally information is provided on case studies, good practice, European legislation and programmes. The ManagEnergy website includes a partner search system with some 4000 organisations, including 380 energy agencies, which can provide valuable expertise and partnerships on energy activities at local and regional levels. ManagEnergy also offers free internet broadcast facilities including more than 1000 individual video presentations, speeches and interviews on topical energy matters. The KidsCorner section provides educational resources for children (under 11), young adults (12-16) and their teachers in 27 languages.
On ManagEnergy agenda, in the coming months:
- The ManagEnergy Annual Conference will take place on the morning of 24 March 2010 during the EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) and, as in previous years, the ManagEnergy Local Energy Action Award will be presented during the conference. We encourage you all to submit your case studies by 26 February 2010 for consideration for the award.
- On the afernoon of 24 March, ManagEnergy is organising a workshop on the new ManagEnergy – Website
