Sixteen times the members of the URBACT Local Group (ULG) Dinslaken had met since its formation in July 2020. Together with the working groups in the 8 European network cities of the "Active Citizens" project, they had embarked on a very structured journey during which they discussed possibilities, opportunities and obstacles of improved citizen participation according to plan.  The ideas and methodological suggestions from the meetings at the European level were transferred to the situation in Dinslaken, and the international exchange of experience could thus be made directly useful for Dinslaken.

The work of the local group came to a provisional end with the presentation of an "Integrated Action Plan". In addition to a fundamental analysis of the specific challenges, this plan also includes 12 concrete proposals for measures to improve the culture of participation in Dinslaken. The plan is still only available in English, but the German version will be presented to the city council for discussion and decision-making after the summer break.

But first they met in the summery garden ambience of group spokesperson Thomas Pieperhoff. Steffen Budweg, who had accompanied the group's work, reported on the last international meetings in Paris and Strasbourg and reviewed the work of the past two years in a vivid presentation. The hope and intention of the group is to be able to accompany the implementation phase of the action plan in the future as well. A hope it shares with the working groups of the European network cities.
