Limerick's wildlife safaris and other nature-related activities

19 November 2021It has been an exciting time in Limerick with wildlife safaris, guided walks, a growth in ‘Let it Bee’ areas and the further development of the Baggot estate for natural play and orienteering along with the procurement of a landscape architect are just some of the activities undertaken during this time.
Ireland’s National Heritage Week saw Limerick City and County Council invite citizens to guided walks in the Baggot Estate. The first event was for families who discovered the bees, bugs and blooms that grow, crawl and fly. Why they are important and how to help them. The second event was an adult orientated walk highlighting the importance of nature, connecting natural areas and what we can do to help nature in our own place.
An additional public walk and talk on wild flower gardens was a led by a local ecologist. It focused on nature, pollinator plants, and food growing. A tour of three wildflower/pollinator gardens aimed to engage adults with pollinator friendly planting in their gardens and community greenspaces.
