Lights on Braganca`s participation in Find Your Greatness APN

This series of articles is about the cities' implications in the Find Your Greatness Network, with a special focus on the strategic development challenges of every city, their strategic brand positioning, the objectives of the Integrated Action Plan, main actions related to the IAP, the role and activities of ULGs in co-creating the IAP, and the benefits in participating in the FYG APN. 

Every article is a well-defined ”radiography” of the activities within the Find Your Greatness project and of the results as well. The structure of every article is very rigid, in order to capture only the essentials and to be read in under 3 minutes. 

1. Key strategic development challenges of the city
The main key strategic development challenges for Bragança are: attracting young people, couples, and young families; stimulating entrepreneurship, innovative and creative industries, and services that will generate jobs; linking the development of the city and the territory of the municipality (villages, settlements, etc.); building community affiliation and spirit.

2. Strategic brand positioning
Bragança has an existing brand and logo solution, that is used widely to promote the city. In addition, Bragança has developed recently the campaign entitled “Bragança. Naturalmente!”. This campaign is focused on the municipality's natural singularities to attract national tourists and convince them to stay longer in this territory. As part of this campaign, several videos were produced that promote local attractions, with a focus on nature, heritage, traditions, and gastronomy. Additionally, in the context of FyG project, Bragança aims to update the branding strategy, develop a marketing and communication strategy through the use of smart e-solutions, and to propose policy activities and measures that will lead to a positive image and accomplish the city's vision for Bragança.

3. Objectives of IAP
The city of Bragança has defined a general objective for the IAP as “bringing more young families to relocate to Bragança, which will have a positive impact in the future on bringing investors, who will find a more qualified workforce in the city”. 

4. Main actions of IAP
In order to achieve the objectives of the IAP, Bragança has proposed several actions to be implemented in the upcoming years. The main 3 actions are the following: To boost tourism and experience base activities in Bragança; To value and promote Bragança cultural and industrial heritage: To reinforce Bragança Community Spirit Building.

5. The role and activities of ULG in co-creating IAP
The ULG core has played a major role in the development of the IAP, and has contributed to the definition of specific objectives, activities, and target groups of Bragança IAP. In addition, the ULG core has been involved in the proposal of actions related to the aforementioned policy challenges (brand actions, marketing actions, community spirit-building actions, etc.).

6. The benefits of participating in APN FyG 
The participation in APN FyG in Urbact Programme has enabled multiple benefits for Bragança, through the share of experiences and knowledge among the network cities. The participation in transnational meetings has allowed the improvement of Bragança IAP, namely the key project objectives, activities, and work plan review. From these meetings have emerged several fundamental issues, such as the necessity to keep the members closer in the development of the integrated action plan; the understanding of the integrated action plan and the roadmap as the main products of each city partner; the importance of communicating the integrated action plan to citizens; the fact that the action plan must integrate different levels, sectors, and actions (horizontal, vertical and territorial integration).
