The URBACT Local Group (ULG) is the key method for the URBACT Cities to implement projects at local level. Two masterclasses were held virtually in February by Jelgava's partners in Latvia, one about Place and Placemaking and another about Gender Sensitive Approach to public places. The ad hoc expert Wessel Badenhorst together with the lead expert Ileana Toscano explored the following questions: What does it make a public space a "great place" to live? Which are the ingredients to create "great places" for cities? What does it mean place-making? And how can Play contribute to placemaking? Find all the answers in the Joyrnal.
And more over, the second masterclass was held by the ad hoc expert Mary Dellenbaugh-Losse an equal city specialist. She created the Playful Paradigm Gender Toolkit an important document that indicate the principals of how a public places shoul be to be inclusive and gender sensitive. She said "in order to design spaces which are welcoming and equitable for all participants, we first need to understand what possible users need and expect from the space (the Data & Participation method), we need to incorporate this information into the Physical Design.
