Nort-sur-Erdre, one of the smallest city of the City Centre Doctor project hosted European partners from 3rd to 6th April 2017. The case studied in this session was the urban planning with a presentation of Nort-sur-Erdre and Communauté de Communes Erdre et Gesvres.
During the study visit, participants alternated workshops and city walks managed by Lead Expert Wessel Badenhorst.
The first workshop was an “Idea’s Market” facilitated by M. Miguel Sousa. This session was a great example of what is URBACT network : sharing ideas and/or practices between the partners. Each partner was able to present and, in a second time to pick ideas from others cities that could be interesting for their own city. Two “city walks” were organized by Nort-sur-Erdre : one in the streets of the city and another one by the river. Three groups went through the city and made observations and propositions for Nort-sur-Erdre. This session increased in value the diagnosis done by the ULG’s members because lots of observations were identical to ULG’s ones but there were also new propositions for the city thanks to the partners’ looks.
The boat trip was organize to give another point of view on the city and to discover a part of Nort-sur-Erdre history. It was also a nice moment shared with the boaters.
The case studied in the Nort-sur-Erdre study visit was the urban planning. The Communauté de Communes Erdres et Gesvres and Nort-sur-Erdre municipality presented how french urban plannings are linked and how the different local authorities work together to create a coherent urban planning. Nort-sur-Erdre offered a music show to the partners and the citizens, a vision of a city performed by an artist (video and music). This transnational exchange was an important moment for the city and for the ULG’s members to better understand the project, to meet each other and share ideas.
