This is how we benchmarked...

02 October 2018SmartImpact city partners have a wide range of experience. Their potential to become smarter has been explored throughout the project Development Phase. Information was collated from each city within the network along with discussions to determine the content of the project.
Manchester, as the lead partner, along with our lead expert, met with each of the 9 partners. A report was produced for each city based on key findings, challenges and good practice. We also held our own baseline meeting to assess our plans for the project. In order to identify their strengths and weaknesses, each city was asked to complete a self-assessment by rating their own state of performance. This included thinking about URBACT Local Group membership, experience in EU Networks and smart city expertise.
During the Development Phase Kick Off Meeting, each city was asked to produce a poster, detailing their smart city challenges, possible achievements and involvement in smart city projects. Each city had to complete a baseline questionnaire to identify policy challenges, learning needs and plans for the URBACT Local Group.
All of this information helped to create a good overview of learning needs and expertise, skills and experience that could be shared amongst the network.
