B.1. Understanding of integrated and sustainable urban development:
I am an urban geographer (city development and energy geography as main topics) with an 20 year municipal background. I have worked as head of the energy department (City of Freiburg) and head of waste management (City of Freiburg and County Bad Duerkheim) in Germany. I was responsible for the implemenation of Freiburg´s Sustainable Energy Action Plan, coordination of stakeholder processes and especially in the integration of energy aspects in city planning (building standards, energy conception etc.) in close cooperation with the city planners. In the fields of waste management I was representing the City and the County in the regional waste management cooperation processes. Since 2014 I am working as a freelance consultant nationally and internationally in project development and management regarding sustainable city development (Evaluation of SCC1 for EU, Establishment of Energy Energies, SEAPs and Energy Management in Ukraine, Germany and China, Moderation of Participatory conferences and workshops in the fields of energy.
B.2. Understanding of exchange and learning processes at transnational level:
Already when working for the City of Freiburg I was involved in several transnational projects (city-networks and technical development): In the Network of Energy Efficient Cities in South-East-Europe supporting 5 capital cities in developing their SEAP strategies and implementation of structures and processes ; In my function as Head of the Energy Department I was assigned as contact person for energy networks (energy-cities, climate alliance and iclei), participating in several international projects and exchange.
As freelancer and in cooperatioin with the "Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit" I am working on project development and implementation in countries like Urkaine and China to integrate energy aspects into overall development strategies, build up Energy Agencies and energy management and prepare proposals to EU programmes (Horizon 2020). I have shared experiences as well on lecture tours to USA (Project Post Carbon Cities of Tormorrow) and Canada (Renewable Cities Global Learning Forum).

With 20 years of municipal experiences in different fields of sustainability and different job occupations (from citizens advisory service in waste management to Head of Waste Management and Energy Department) I have a broad background regarding technical aspects, city planning and administrational structures, especially municipal, aspects.
My work as a freelance consultant allows to share and use these experiences in an internatioanl realm and to easily understand and apprehend the challenges at hand.

City of Freiburg: Integrating Energy in City Planning:
The City of Freiburg, after the best practice "Vauban", was looking forward to mainstream the experiences from this neighborhood, after developing some neighborhoods "without" ambitous energy target. Forming a working group between different municipal departments a strategy was adapted by the city council in 2007. Role: Leading the working group in cooperation with city planning department, provide information for city councillors and prepare decision document; provision of energy calculation schemes and requirements for engineers.
Freiburg Building Standards.
The city - after the adjustment of the German Building Code - wanted to furhter develop the Low Energy Building Standard that the city had first introduced in 1992. Role: Steering of the project; tender a survey (by the German Passive-House Institute), workshops with stakeholders, city council and all Mayors, technical visit of experts to Frankfurt to prepare the decision of the new standard; elaborate the related documents for the city council, purchase and planning contracts, as well as trainings for architects and design of an best-practice-brochure of buildings.

Two year CO2-Emission Inventory: Supervise process and cooperation with Ifeu-Institue that delivered the study in regular two-year time frame
