B.1. Understanding of integrated and sustainable urban development:
Εlectrical engineer with postgraduate studies and experience in business management. Ηolds a PhD in power system economic planning and an MBA. 35 years of work experience, of which 25 years in public administration and utilities sector projects primarily in developing countries funded by Governments, the European Commission, EIB, World Bank, IFC, EBRD, USAID, MCC, AFD, KfW, AfDB and other international financing institutions. Responsible in particular for the design, implementation, management, monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment of large technical support and economic development projects, as well as in strategy, organisation, operations and information systems and financial advisory services. Lead support to several Ministries, regional administrations, prefectures, local municipalities and other public sector organisations, as well as a large number of private sector organisations. Member of the EC DG REGIO databases of experts for the appraisal, implementation and monitoring of Cohesion policy interventions and the implementation of structural and investment funds.
Experience related to integrated and sustainable urban development includes serving as financial expert of the EU CES-MED regional project on cleaner and energy saving Mediterranean cities, supporting the Athens Development and Tourism Promotion Agency in development issues as well as the JESSICA programme regarding public private partnership projects in cities in Greece.
B.2. Understanding of exchange and learning processes at transnational level:
Extensive consultancy experience in developing countries funded by Governments, the EC, EIB, World Bank, IFC, EBRD, USAID, MCC, AFD, KfW, AfDB and other international financing institutions, primarily in Southeast Europe, Northern and Sub-Saharan Africa. Excellent communication skills gained primarily through experience in the management consulting (many client presentations), social partner (many multi-person meetings) and university (many student tutorials) sectors.
Organised and participated in numerous multi-stakeholder consultations. Several articles published and presented at international journals and meetings, and a number of customised training seminars developed and delivered.
B.3. Proficiency in English:
English educated (from kindergarden and elementary school to 7-year university studies in the United Kingdom). Have General Certificate of Education in English Language (1977), BSc (Eng) in Electrical / Electronic Engineering from Queen Mary College / University of London (1985), PhD in electrical power system planning from Queen Mary College / University of London (1989) and MBA from Henley Management College / Brunel University (1994).
