Freight TAILS lead partner Cross River Partnership shares urban freight experiences

As we approach the final few weeks of the Freight TAILS project, lead partner Cross River Partnership (acting on behalf of City of Westminster) publishes a series of case studies highlighting their work related to urban freight transport.

CRP convenes the Central London Sub-Regional Transport Partnership (CLSRTP) which collaborates and trials innovative schemes to benefit and inform all central London boroughs, with the support of Transport for London. 

CRP's Clean Air Better Business programme is helping their public and private sector partners, and central London businesses tackle London’s air quality challenge.

CRP's ‘Click. Collect. Clean Air.’ behaviour change campaign encourages Londoners to redirect personal deliveries away from workplaces to reduce congestion and air pollution in central London.

CRP has been inspiring local business to reconsider the way they receive delivery and servicing in order to reduce cost, increase efficiency and improve the environment, through the use of Delivery & Servicing Plans.

CRP has supported Delivery and Servicing Plans for Markets, recognising that markets play a vital role in cities, towns and high streets economically, socially and environmentally but can provide challenges for freight delivery. 

CRP led the EU funded Freight Electric Vehicles in Urban Europe (FREVUE) which provided evidence on how the current generation of electric freight vehicles are viable alternatives to conventional diesel ones.  

CRP has developed a 4-year Heart of London Deliveries, Waste and Recycling Programme for the private sector Heart of London Business Alliance to address the challenges of traffic congestion, poor air quality and high visibility of commercial waste on its streets.

CRP is working with the private sector New West End Company to help businesses improve air quality in the West End, creating a more welcoming and inviting West End for all; by developing the New West End Company Air Quality Strategy.  

CRP has undertaken Oxford Street West Business Engagement Deliveries and Servicing Research to identify the needs of businesses that will inform development of planning policy on Oxford Street West in response to freight issues.

CRP is working alongside project partners UPS and UK Power Network on the 2-year Smart Electric Urban Logistics (SEUL) project which aims at providing an innovative set of solutions that will support the future uptake of electric freight vehicles and make a vital contribution to cutting emissions in central London.  

CRP working with private sector partner Northbank BID, is delivering Villiers Street Delivery and Servicing Plan (Phase 2), engaging businesses to help them become more aware about how to make deliveries and servicing more efficient.
