The first Green Festival in Tartu County took participants to the Viking Age

14 July 2021"Discover the river Emajõgi" Vikings’ Family Day was the first event in the Green Festival series. The event included a guided boat trip with a Viking ship, a workshop for making a barge, and the opportunity to try and see Viking clothes.
During the event were offered local Tartu food and free drinking water, garbage was collected separately and were used reusable utensils. The organizers of the event conveyed a positive message about the importance of preserving the environment.
A total of nine events will take part in the pilot program of the Green Festival, which will take place this summer and autumn in Tartu and Tartu County in Southern Estonia. The aim is to organize events as environmentally friendly as possible.
Tartu County Development Association together with its partners has launched a Green Festival pilot program within the URBACT “Food Corridors” project to provide support activities to event organizers help them to make their activities more environmentally friendly.
Event organizers, who are participating in the Green Festival pilot program, can now use the Tartu County Green Festival logo as a quality mark that their events.
