Development of Mobility Master Plan enables long-term mobility system development of Zadar and County

The City of Zadar, in cooperation with the Zadar County, presented the project "Development of the mobility master plan of functional region Northern Dalmatia", which is the fundamental strategic document of long-term development of mobility in Zadar and Zadar County. The master plan covers the Zadar County area and will enable the planning of an efficient and sustainable mobility system in accordance with European and national strategies and plans.

The project's aim is drafting a strategic document based on which a long-term development of the mobilty system of the city of Zadar and the Zadar County will be enabled. The project value is 4.1 million HRK, of which 85% is co-financed by the Cohesion Fund, and the other 15 % is national contributions from City of Zadar.

Josip Bilaver, Assistant Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, participated in the project presentation.

- The Masterplan is a strategic document that will first analyze the existing situation and other sectors such as the economy and future demographic trends, and also anticipate future needs and propose mobility solutions that will suit those needs, Bilaver said.

The mayor of Zadar, Branko Dukić, pointed out that the task of the basic strategic document of mobility is to identify all the conditions, problems and potentials of the whole mobility system of Zadar area and to offer solutions for the development of all future mobility projects.

- At the regional level, the project will cover road, rail, maritime and air traffic, and at the local level the project will cover public, urban and suburban traffic, said Mayor of Zadar Branko Dukić, adding that thanks to the master plan, complete analysis and a complete overview of the traffic system with accurate data on traffic flows, cargoes and habits as the basis of the optimal transport model for Zadar and the county, will be done.

- Today is a new page that we will turn to. Throughout history, Zadar has always been the intersection of the roads between the north and south, east and west, and with this project we want to return Zadar and our county to that position. This is a great chance for us and the future generations. Zadar will surely become an inevitable transit center for passenger and freight traffic in this part of Europe, which is the future of our economy and generations coming to us, said Božidar Longin, County Prefect of Zadar.
