On October 30th and 31st, 2008, the French presidency of the European Union, in partnership with the Committee of the Regions, the European Commission and the Association of French Regions, will be holding a conference in Paris on territorial cohesion and the future of cohesion policy.

"

Following up the debate on the future of Cohesion Policy launched by the publication of the 4th Cohesion Report and the Commission's Green Paper on territorial cohesion, which is due to be published in early October 2008, and in anticipation of the informal meeting of European ministers for regional planning to be held at the end of November, this conference will be a major event in the EU debate on the Cohesion policy and Territorial cohesion.
Over the course of two days, stakeholders in territorial policy and cohesion policy, structural fund managers and representatives of civil society from the 27 EU Member States will examine and discuss all aspects of the issue with a view to producing proposals for implementing the territorial agenda. Theme-based workshops and plenary sessions will enable participants to exchange points of view and first-hand experiences in order to identify the priorities and issues facing territorial cohesion after 2013.
