CoNet meeting in Palermo

The CoNet meeting in Palermo focused on the Ballaro neighbourhood. In the Local Action Plan draft produced by Palermo's Local Support Group a new form of cooperation between the municipality and the associations working in Ballaro is proposed. The CoNet partners gave a feedback on the draft and highlighted the shared responsibility of the Municipality and associations for the Ballaro neighbourhood.
Another topic of the meeting was transparency. Palermo has a very active civil society working to increase transparency in all walks of public life. Participants to the CoNet meeting in Palermo on 25 and 26 November had a chance to visit Libera Palermo an association fighting organized crime and corruption. Property confiscated from convicted criminals is used by social cooperatives and associations.
