City Lab #3 Integrated Approaches
Together with EUROCITIES, URBACT is hosting a series of City Labs, which focus on the principles of the Leipzig Charter. The Lab outputs will feed into the 2020 German EU Presidency’s refresh of this key EU urban policy document.
City Lab #3, focused on the principle of Integration, will take place in Warsaw alongside and following the EUROCITIES Social Affairs Forum. This City Lab will link to the policy themes of the Forum, looking at the principles of integration in urban development, specifically how cities tackle the challenges of economic integration, social integration and gender inclusiveness.
Working in close partnership with EUROCITIES Social Affairs Forum, participants will have the opportunity to visit some of the inclusive practices currently implemented in Warsaw relating to social inclusion and well-being.
The City Labs involve elected officials and officers, as well as participants from the EU and national levels. The format is dynamic and interactive, with a focus on policy issues on the afternoon of the 24th and an exploration of effective city practices on the morning of the 25th.

BACT Knowledge Hub brings together good practices and lessons learned from cities to share with all professionals involved in urban policy throughout Europe. The work programme on exploring city application of Integrated and Participatory urban development concepts began in September 2018 and runs until 2020. A series of practical City Labs explore the technical and policy developments in European cities, and formulate recommendations to overcome barriers. This work is aligned with the German EU Presidency 2020 process to renew the Leipzig Charter for sustainable urban development, bringing city experiences to the reflection.
