09 October 2017The strategies for the promotion of youth employment adopted by the Italian cities partners in URBACT networks will be the focus theme of the event organized by Cittalia – Research Centre of ANCI (National association of Italian municipalities) on 12th September in Turin, as side event of the Bureau of the Committee of the Regions, taking place the same day.
"Cities and youth employment: the solutions of the URBACT cities and the role of innovators to tackle unemployment in the city" is the title of the meeting, organized by the Municipality of Turin, the Committee of the Regions and the Secretariat of the URBACT Programme. The meeting will foster the dialogue between local authorities and innovators, aiming to share models and winning solutions for the creation of employment for youth and, at the same time, to spread new models of shared development in urban contexts. Cities are the places where the effects of social changes created by the current economic crisis are mainly perceived: Italian and European local governments are promoting new forms of collaboration with local stakeholders and creative people who are actively creating new jobs and innovation through the engagement of the young people. The successful experiences of innovative companies and start-ups in Piedmont Region as Arduino, Cooperativa Libre, Fluentify, Ponyzero, Sumisura and Svinando will be compared with the Italian and European strategies promoted by the European Programme URBACT in several cities, such as Udine, Bologna, Cesena, Turin, Novara and Messina. The meeting, which is part of the program of activities hosted by Turin during the semester of Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, will be attended, among others, by the mayor of Turin and ANCI president Piero Fassino, the President of the Committee Regions Michel Lebrun, the mayor of Udine Furio Honsell, the general secretary of Cittalia Pierciro Galeone and the director of “Agenzia Nazionale dei giovani” (Italian agency for young people) Giacomo D’Arrigo.
