CASH is an URBACT project investigating composite approaches to reduce energy consumption, in particular through sustainable housing. CASH 5th transnational Thematic Seminar will focus on energy production and will be held in Sonderborg, Denmark, from 9 to 11 May 2012. Save the date!

CASH is a network of 11 partners led by the French city of Echirolles. This URBACT project intends to provide new solutions and promote new policies for sustainable renovation of social and affordable housing units in the European Union. As a contribution to the climate change issue, the project seeks to reduce the energy consumption in buildings. It looks for new solutions to renovate social and affordable housing units, in order to improve their energy efficiency (EE) and to influence users' behaviour through citizens' involvement.

CASH 5th Transnational Thematic Seminar is hosted by the partner city of Sonderborg in which 50% of district heating comes from a 9000 m2 solar heating plant and where natural-gas-based district heating production has been replaced by geothermal heating from the 3rd Danish geothermal plant.

The agenda of this 3-day meeting will include discussions on local strategic energy planning, energy companies' responsibilities in the reduction of CO2 emissions and in investing in energy efficient renovation, contracts and tariffs, maintenance of infrastructures, transition between individual heat systems and district heating etc.
