Campobasso
Campobasso is the capital city of the Molise Region (Italy), with a population of 52,000. It faces key economic problems including weakness of the economic development due to non-structured micro-enterprises, and a high unemployment rate, mostly among young people. Through RUnUP, Campobasso expects to re-centre the role of the university as main actor in the improvement process of the “Citadel of Economy” through the integration and standardisation of services for SMEs to fulfil their need of innovation and increase their competitiveness.
Campobasso's key challenges include integrating services for enterprises and young citizens to favour competitiveness through knowledge and technology transfer - strengthening the connections between university, research centres and enterprises.
Local actors already provide technical assistance to profit and non-profit SMEs to increase development and innovation. The local partners founded the “Citadel of Economy”, bringing together all necessary actions for economic growth. Integration of the process components is needed. A common path towards truly integrated strategic policies, even leading to concrete solutions for employment, is required.
