B.1. Understanding of integrated and sustainable urban development:
I have developed considerable experience and expertise of designing integrated/participatory urban policies for a range of organisations, including local authorities. An example is URBACT Markets (2015) on behalf of Westminster City Council where I was the co -author of the Local Action Plan. This has now led to the creation of a Markets Board supported by the Mayor of London which was one of the recommendations for the City. I also wrote and coordinated input for the Local Economic Assessment for Peterborough. This required input from a diverse range of stakeholders and created a baseline for the city in order to develop economic/urban interventions to stimulate change. I currently work for the Mayor of London which covers an area of 33 Boroughs. I lead a team that works that develops and delivers programmes in line with the Economic Development Strategy for the City. I lead on Small, Medium Sized Enterprises (SME’s) and their growth currently contract managing a £85m co-investment fund to deliver regeneration objectives for London. I also lead on the Growth Hub which is in its design stages. I am in the process of developing a stakeholder engagement plan in order to develop an integrated approach with all the Boroughs and other stakeholders across London to deliver business support in a cohesive and coherent manner. I also have experience of working with smaller government authorities delivering urban development programmes through partnership working.
B.2. Understanding of exchange and learning processes at transnational level:
I have developed significant experience of designing and delivering successful exchange and learning activities bringing together diverse cultures to deliver successful outcomes for the locality and creating lasting change throughout Europe and further afield. Much of this work has lent on my strong project management /marketing skills which are mixture of academia and direct work experience. Adults all learn in different ways. From my experience, active participation is most effective rather than passive learning so to design interactive meetings to encourage all partners to integrate fully into discussions. It is also essential to ensure content is relevant and helps to achieve partner goal and solving their city issues. Most importantly learning has to be fun. The Andragogy principles by Malcom Knowles are fundamental for me in understanding how adults learn. My excellent communication skills, commitment and experience have allowed me to build strong stakeholder groups, empowering them to deliver sustainable, positive change and share their experiences across Europe . It is vital to understand the dynamics of each project/partnership to ensure outcomes are maximised. I always ensure ample networking time, site visits and workshops to allow partners to interact to encourage exchange of knowledge. I have also taken on Work Package lead roles in communication and project management. As part of this, I have created innovative marketing material across cities in Europe.
B.3. Proficiency in English:
English is my mother tongue and therefore pride myself in my ability to be able to work in this language whether that’s face to face communication, report writing or facilitating groups from diverse backgrounds. I have led projects in international environments and pride myself in my ability to be able to work with those where English isn’t their first language to ensure their full participation and integration into project partnerships to deliver successful outputs. I have been a speaker at national and international conferences, workshops etc. delivering presentations in the English language. I have also facilitated workshops motivating individuals to share their expertise and provide valuable contributions. I encourage participants to contact me afterwards if they have any questions or require further support.

Expertise for the design and delivery of transnational exchange and learning activities:

Summary Expertise for the design and delivery of transnational exchange and learning activities:
I have extensive experience of the design and delivering transnational learning activities in a way which motivates and energises partnerships. Understanding the key issues and barriers, building strong teams and partner dynamics and maximising outcome based results which can be successfully disseminated across Europe have always created positive project results. I have designed and delivered numerous transnational meetings across Europe in collaboration with relevant stakeholders which have received excellent feedback from all partners. I strongly believe in using a mix of learning methods to ensure sessions are interesting and that learning is documented in a the most appropriate and effective way. I strongly believe in building cohesive teams to maximise learning through networks and relationships, I use a participative style and encourage active learning and place emphasis on balancing group dynamics and creating/maintaining effective working relationships to maximise project results for partners supporting them to connect policy with practice. I have over 10 years of experience in working with a diverse range of national and international stakeholders. That combined with my excellent people skills, I can provide support and advice to partners on how to create and build capacity effectively of a Local Action Group to ensure the best results for both the city, and the project alike using a participative approach.

Expertise support to local authorities and other stakeholders in designing & delivering integrated and participatory policies

E.1. Knowledge on participatory methods and tools for co-production and implementation of local polices :
I have over 15 years of experience working with Local Authorities in the field of economic/urban development. During my career, I have played an integral role in ensuring a participatory methods and tools are used for co-production and implementation of policies. An example is this https://www.opportunitypeterborough.co.uk/app/uploads/2015/03/Peterborough-Local-Economic-Assessment-April-2011.pdf Where I worked with put together a local stakeholder group to design and develop this document. An implementation plan was then developed to ensure the recommendations were put into action. I engaged stakeholders by taking note of the 8 adult learning principles to ensure full participation in discussion. Principle of Active Learning Active participation through discussion, feedback and activities creates more learning than passive listening or reading. As a presenter, find ways to reduce the amount of content covered and allow the participants to discuss the content with each other using a variety of activities to enhance these principles. Whilst managing Innofun to develop a Regional Implementation Plan, I ensured we maximised the use of participatory methods, I used the Arnstein ladder of participation to ensure the partners were aiming for the highest level. Participation is the key to success. The stakeholders were identified early on. Using the importance/influence quadrant and undertaking an open call for stakeholders, I ensured we had the correct representation.
E.2. Knowledge on integrated approach for the design, delivering, monitoring and evaluation of urban strategies/policies:
As part of the URBACT Markets project (24 month project), to ensure an integrated approach, I had to have an understanding of stakeholders individual objectives and motivations. 1-2-1 meetings with all the stakeholders were vital to better understand their requirements. I planned meetings carefully so they were participative, researched diverse animation techniques and working with the ad-hoc expert to help build a cohesive ULSG by undertaking team building activities and running interactive sessions on the benefits of what the LAP will bring to the individual city and how this ties into the transnational picture. I used a stakeholder monitoring tool helping the individuals involved to understand what is in it for them is a motivator so they can see the value of the project and what it will bring to their city. I also developed a project dashboard to monitor progress on a quarterly basis including budget and progress against objectives / outputs / risks. I downloaded the self assessment tool which monitored performance of the ULSG and was updated every month. As part of the (Horizon 2020) Sharing Cities programme which I have supported since 2018, I supported the team I lead to develop an integrated plan. We put in place a strategy monitoring system which make use of the already available information collected through surveys and reports of each city. The monitoring process was a collaborative exercise, a platform to better coordinate the different activities and progress.
E.3. Awareness of the main policy and funding schemes for sustainable urban development at EU and national level:
I work in a large Local Authority covering the entirety of London (population of 8m people) and help lead a team to deliver projects which contribute the European Urban agenda as well as to our national and London centric agenda around Economic Development. I have worked with external funding both national and European throughout my career and am aware how to maximise benefits for cities, ensure the correct stakeholders are engaged and involved. I am aware of the culture and policy differences between countries and how to integrate partners to deliver local solutions from global problems. Through my work across Europe, I have developed strong knit relationships with European cities (as well as Secretariats) and am in regular contact to discuss policy issues and external funding opportunities for future collaboration. My strong networks with the commission, partner networks and national government mean I am kept informed of funding streams on a European, national and more local level. I have experience of working with a range of funding streams (including URBACT, Interreg, Horizon 2020, ERDF ) and understand the deliverables to not only connect these to relevant strategies but also the requirement to make projects a success for the partnership and more widely for Europe as a whole.
E.4. Ability to understand specific local situations and adapt tools and content to different local realities:
I have designed and coordinated numerous transnational events in the UK. As part of the RECOMMEND project 2009-2012, I ensured the marketing material was tailormade to their local areas. http://www.recommendproject.eu/media4.htm This was done in consultation with partners so all the necessary languages were represented and content was relevant.I organised the London meeting and tailormade events to the specific partnership and project to maximise benefits for everyone. The agenda I created in consultation with the lead partner I always took time to get to know the project partners and their requirements for their cities to ensure the tools and content is suitable for their locality. As part of the bid, I ensured an allocation for each partner for translators so if required they could attend events with non English speakers and material could be translated where required. I also followed up with a call to each partner after meetings to ensure they understand key concepts and relay information back to their cities. I undertook a baseline study to better understand each partner, their city, objectives, issues and ideal solutions from the outset to gauge an understanding of the breadth of variation between partners and adapted tools and content accordingly to ensure all needs were met. The main differences were some wanted to focus on eco-management and others on eco-innovation. I split the groups into two to focus on one subject each and provided collaboration opportunities.
