Generic Skills
B.1. Understanding of integrated and sustainable urban development:
Cities are becoming smarter and citizens more empowered to participate and engage in urban development. I have worked with cities on sustainable development projects in the period 1995-1999 while working at ICLEI's European Secretariat as project coordinator. Main research and policy themes were Local Agenda 21, green procurement and sustainable tourism actions. Recently, I collaborated as Lead expert of phase 1 of the 4D Cities project on innovative ageing initiatives at city level, integrating health and social care services.
B.2. Understanding of exchange and learning processes at transnational level:
Local solutions to global challenges require effective transfer of know-how among cities and actors. This is why I have been working through various EU-funded projects on cooperation with cities on global challenges such as biodiversity protection, water management, sustainable tourism, or integrated care, identifying local solutions.
B.3. Proficiency in English:
After having worked one year in the United States, I worked in two international network organisations based in Germany and the Netherlands, where English was the working language. This is why various of my publications are in English.

Expertise support to local authorities and other stakeholders in designing & delivering integrated and participatory policies
E.1. Knowledge on participatory methods and tools for co-production and implementation of local polices :
Many years ago, I helped to draft and implement Local Agenda 21 action plans and eco-procurement guidelines for local authorities. Recently, I have been working on a gap analysis as regards integrated care services in our reference area (300,000 citizens).
E.2. Knowledge on integrated approach for the design, delivering, monitoring and evaluation of urban strategies/policies:
I am currently engaged in designing, developing and implementing integrated care pathways (among social care and health care actors in municipalities), with the aim to deliver a better service to the citizen.
E.3. Awareness of the main policy and funding schemes for sustainable urban development at EU and national level:
As Innovation Coordinator, I follow closely any opportunity in this regard, such as the RIS3 programme, RTD projects, thematic network calls, etc. My main focus for funding source assessment is on innovation management, rather then on urban development.
E.4. Ability to understand specific local situations and adapt tools and content to different local realities:
Innovation management is highly linked to legal and policy issues at local level. Each EU country has different provisions for start-up creation, RTD tax alleviation, RSC policies linked to RTD, among other instruments and tools. This is why I have been acquiring ample knowledge as regards local strengths and weaknesses in innovation management aspects at various EU countries.
