Bettering broadband access to kick-start the economy Conference

The Italian region of Piedmont, the B3 regions network (part of the 'Regions for Economic Change' initiative) and the European Commission are organising a conference in Turin on 2 and 3 April. The theme of this European event will be broadband internet and jump-starting the economy.

"The Italian region of Piedmont, the B3 regions network (part of the 'Regions for Economic Change' initiative) and the European Commission are organising a conference in Turin on 2 and 3 April. The theme of this European event will be broadband internet and jump-starting the economy. The European Economic Recovery Plan has earmarked €1 billion of the European budget for developing broadband networks and plans to develop a common European strategy on the subject. The main features of this event will be information about the EU spending on broadband within the context of the recovery plan and the sharing of broadband good practices between rural and regional development authorities Officials from relevant Directorates General from the European Commission will take part to the event, as well as representatives from the ICT industry and national telecom regulators on electronic communications and rural, regional and national authorities in charge of broadband deployment as well as other relevant actors. Management Authorities for the Structural Funds in the Member States are invited to take part in the conference.
