Bar been set high for our European partners visit to Birmingham
Edited on
05 September 2022After we had such a warm welcome from our European partners back in June, it’s only right that we return the favour – and host our friends here in Birmingham. So that we don’t disappoint, we’re busy getting everything ready for the visit later this month.
Writing this, I’m finding it hard to believe that it’s been almost three months since colleagues from Birmingham were sitting in Rotterdam and Poznan for the USE-IT Roadshow. Where has the time gone!
If you’ve been following this website and twitter feed the past few weeks, you will know how our partner cities ‘pulled out all the stops’ for us and gave us, what I can only describe, as a truly superb visit. There was literally nothing at all to fault – well maybe except the torrential rain one morning in Poznan. It’s all on here to read, so no need to repeat any further.
As the bar has been set so high now, we in Birmingham want to make sure that our friends across the channel have a great experience on the 20th and 21st of this month.
There’s a lot of work going to behind the scenes making sure that the two days will be jam-packed with a mixture of informative but fun visits – and of course an opportunity to try out some of the great food and experiences Birmingham has to offer.
Without announcing the programme of events yet – that will come soon enough; I can reveal that the two days have very distinct themes. The first day will focus largely on West Birmingham, looking specifically at the original USE-IT project that was very successful there. The second day will be very much about East Birmingham, focusing on the current project and the legacy of this going forward.
No doubt our guests will appreciate what a large and diverse city Birmingham is – and equally the big differences between West and East Birmingham – not forgetting the immense opportunities that exist in both.
We’re counting down the days now – and hope for a bit of decent weather too!
