Generic Skills

B.1. Understanding of integrated and sustainable urban development:
I graduated in Architecture in 2003 from the Iuav University of Venice, where in 2007 I earned the Ph.D. in Urbanism (coordinator Prof. Bernardo Secchi). I have more than 10 years of knowledge in design of sustainable urban strategies and action plans and good practice for sustainable urban development. I have had extensive work experience in large scale plans and projects, among others: the Structure Plan of Ferrara, the Development Plan of Les Hauts de Rouen, the Town Plan of Roncegno Terme. From 2008 to 2011, I have been working in the “Landscape Observatory on the Po river delta region”, learning specific skills on sustainable urban and landscape policies and practices for environmentally fragile areas, as well in the participatory processes in the perspective of the European Landscape Convention. Over the years I focused my interests on river basins and coastal integrated planning, paying particular attention to a water sensitive design and risks prevention approach. In this context, it is worth mentioning the research “Veneto 2100 - Living With Water”, selected in 2012 for the 5th IABR - International Architecture Biennale of Rotterdam - 'Making City'. My professional and research activity has combined with and has been supported by a constant attention to learning and teaching. I have been Adjunct Professor at the University of Camerino (2010-13) and at the University Iuav of Venice (2013). Since 2014 I teach Urban Landscape Design at the University of Florence.
B.2. Understanding of exchange and learning processes at transnational level:
Both in my academic and professional career I have always worked in transnational and multidisciplinary teams. I taught in several urban and landscape design international workshops, taking part in stimulating knowledge exchange experiences, as well developing education and training across Europe. I have been among the coordinators for 2 different transnational didactic activities financed under the Lifelong Learning Erasmus Intensive Programme, attended by students and professors belonging to different European universities and disciplines (• Summer school on the Po river delta. Building scenarios in fragile territories – 2009, 2010, 2011; • Future Cities: Demographic Change and Local Differentiation – 2013, 2014). As part of my research activity I organized 2 international conferences: “The Landscape Observatories. Approaches, problems, experiences in Italy and Europe” and “Delta landscape in Europe. A comparison”. In the last 5 years I gained experience in the participation in EU calls and in partnerships building. On behalf of the University Iuav of Venice, I headed the application of the following EU programmes: • ERASMUS+ Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices, Call 2015; • HORIZON 2020 Reflective Society: Cultural Heritage and European Identities, call 2015; • Erasmus Mundus Action 2, call 2014; • LLP Erasmus IP, calls 2009, 2010, 2011.
B.3. Proficiency in English:
I regularly lecture in international academic and professional environments. Since 2013-2014 academic year I have been teaching Urban Landscape Design at the International Course on Architectural Design of the University of Florence: a Master’s course - totally in English language - open to students coming from countries outside of the European Union. I also taught in 5 editions of the LLP Erasmus IP, attended by students coming from Austria, England, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Romania, Slovenia and Spain. I have good communication skills gained also through the participation at international conferences and seminars, as lecturer, chair, paper reviewer and scientific coordinator. I published essays and articles in international books (9), journals (2) and conference proceedings (4), all in English.

Urban Strategic Planning
Summary Thematic expertise:
I have more than 10 years of experience in Urban Strategic Planning gained through my education and training, work and research experience, and teaching activity. I’m graduated in Architecture and, in 2007, I earned the Ph.D. in Urbanism. Over the years I had extensive work experiences in large scale strategical plans and urban projects. My research interests concern various aspects in designing scenarios for sustainable urban and territorial development, in studying the urban-rural relationships in metropolitan areas. In recent years I focused my interests on the relationships between urban sprawl phenomena and environmental fragilities. Both in research and professional activity, I'm mostly interested in a bottom-up approach in which the capitalization, the policy design and the awareness raising have to be developed and maximized since the beginning of the project as a constant learning exchange and a participative process. My professional and research activity has combined and supported by a constant attention in teaching. Currently I’m Adjunct Professor in Urban Landscape Design at the University of Florence.

I have a long experience in Environmental Issues gained through my education and training, work and research experience, and teaching activity. I graduated in Architecture and, in 2007, I earned the Ph.D. in Urbanism. Over the years I had extensive work experiences in large scale plans and projects paying particular attention to the valorization of the landscape and natural resources. As researcher, I worked in the Landscape Observatory on the Po River Delta Region, developing specific skills on river basins and integrated coastal systems planning. Over the years I focused my interests on the landscape design in environmentally fragile areas, paying particular attention to a “water sensitive landscape design approach”. Integrated Urban Renewal
Summary Thematic expertise:
I have a strong experience in Integrated Urban Renewal gained through my education and training, work and research experience, and teaching activity. I graduated in Architecture and in 2007 I earned the Ph.D. in Urbanism. As practitioner I worked in several large scale plans and projects dealing with an urban design framework that looks at urbanized areas as the waste product of defunct economic and industrial processes. I also participated in some design competitions connected to the revitalization of urban and suburban areas. As researcher I worked in several surveys focused on the shrinking of numerous European cities as well as their demand for a sustainable urban transformation.
