„ReUżytkownia” (ReUse shop) in the heart of Opole is open!
Edited on
02 December 2021“ReUżytkownia”, which was established at Książąt Opolskich Street in the city centre of Opole, opened its doors to the public on the 19th of November. It functions as a central location for the exchange of items, but also a space for education, workshops and meetings.
“ReUżytkownia” is located on a spot that formerly held a clothing store. The building has been renovated and re-equipped. The furniture is also made with circularity in mind – the counter is made of pallets used at the construction site and the shelves and bookshelves come from the City Hall, where they were no longer needed. The shop also has a little storage space, so you can bring small items that are in good conditions. For now it is filled with books, toys, jewellery, bags and handbags, decorative elements, flowerpots, mugs and cups, cameras and plants. The first equipment was provided by city officials: flowers were purchased by the Municipal Company. Later on clothes will be available as well.

The store will be used to teach the inhabitants of Opole about circular economy. By bringing an item to this place, they give it a chance to find a new owner. Instead of being put in the garbage can, it will end up in the hands of someone for whom it will be useful.
- It is an interesting initiative which, we hope, will be warmly received by the residents. It started with an idea of the employees of the Municipal Waste Management Department who, determined, led the project to a happy end. We all care about ecology, so thanks to this solution we will take care of the space around us - emphasizes the Mayor of Opole, Arkadiusz Wiśniewski.
There are also plans to organize lectures and workshops at ReUżytkownia. The first took place on 20th of November. It was a workshop on making Christmas cards using the scarpbooking method.
“ReUżytkownia” is open: Tuesday - Wednesday 11.00-16.00, Thursday 11.00-18.00, Friday 11.00-16.00, Saturday 11.00-14.00.
Activity of “ReUżytkownia” is possible thanks to the implementation of the project "Resourceful Cities under the URBACT program
